It's *not* been a good day |
I was working out this morning and I hurt both of my knees (mostly my
right knee) and I'm so bummed :-( I have fairly bad knees (dislocated
knee caps) and sometimes they will 'pop' and it hurts enough that I've
needed crutches before. I'm just limping a bit for now (and
deperately hope it doesn't get any worse). It may not sound like a
lot to someone else but I'm so upset....it's really important to me
and is something I've been doing for myself and it's made me feel a
lot better. I've had a good thing going and I really really don't
want this to stop me.
Then hubby comes home this afternoon to tell me he's out of another
job. I just picked up prescriptions for me and my son last week that
would have cost $3000 without insurance. That's just for meds, there
are soooo many other medical and dental bills. We HAVE to have
insurance as well as a salary. I'm terrified. We were unemployed for
a year 5 years ago and we're still paying off debt from that period of
time. Finding a job is so unpredictable...we never know how long it
will take and how good an offer he'll get. It's hard because I have
to depend upon him...I have no control over his emoployment....how he
job hunts, what job he finds and how he performs at a job. I just
hope that he finds employment soon.

i understand how exercising can make you feel better and i'm sure it IS a
terrible disappointment to have this taken away from you right now. are you
a member of a gym? can you switch to swimming for a little while til your
knees are better?
I've had a good thing going and I really really don't
want this to stop me.
find a way to work around it as best you can. don't give up!
Then hubby comes home this afternoon to tell me he's out of another
job.
damn, i've been there so many times before i've lost count. i know that
sick feeling! in fact, each time my hubby walks in the door these days, i
look at his face just to make sure he doesn't have that "look." i'm so
sorry, rose!!!
I just picked up prescriptions for me and my son last week that
would have cost $3000 without insurance. That's just for meds, there

oh gosh, i know!!!! its such a vicious cycle!
I'm terrified. We were unemployed for
a year 5 years ago and we're still paying off debt from that period of
time.
uh huh...i get *that* too!! we're paying off so much debt from all the past
unemployments that i don't think we'll *ever* get it taken care of. :/
Finding a job is so unpredictable...we never know how long it
will take and how good an offer he'll get.
what does he do, hun?
It's hard because I have

oh, i hope so too! gosh how i understand how unsettling, upsetting and
terrifying this whole thing can be. it can just completely derail you
depression-wise as well. ugh...i'm so so sorry, girl!!!!! i
understand!!!!!

I'm so sorry, Rose. What an awful day, indeed. Do you have
enough set aside to pay COBRA so you'll have insurance? I wish
I could help, but all I can do is to say I'm here when you
need to talk.

We don't have to cover COBRA yet, but I can tell you it's so
expensive, I don't know how we would afford it. Last time we had to
pay for COBRA we couldn't keep up with it, but I'll just have to wait
and see what happens. Your reply is always helpful, I hope you know
that. A listening ear and a caring heart, what more could a person
ask for in a friend. Thanks Lisa. Hope your day went ok.

yes, it is! it's outrageous!!!!! we went 2 years without insurance because
we couldn't afford COBRA and we couldn't afford private health insurance.
man those were a scary few years!
one of the zillion times my hubby lost his job, i was pregnant. so we had
no choice, we HAD to pay Cobra. it turned out we could have just paid for
the delivery out of pocket cheaper than our Cobra payments were, but if
there had been issues with the delivery, not having insurance would have
killed us!

Can you get the kids on Medi-cal? I don't know anything about the
program, but everyone who's worked for me seems to have basic health
insurance for their kids through the state.
If he freelanced and was self-employed you could look into California
Choice, that's what I have. It's expensive, but it's guaranteed
coverage, and the entire group is rated as a whole, they don't single
you out.
