IT'S SLOWLY COMING TOGETHER |
i've just about rebuilt my hard drive ,
but i still need a free mp3 thing so i can ,
download music , but not kazazz , it's got really bad ratings

get PeerGuardian for the box you are running WinMX on, too

if it chews too-much processor, get the PG2Lite version...
it'z the forerunner of the PG2 that's going to be released
it does work altho you can't tell when an ***** has been blocked

look for PeerGuardian.zip. has older versions; Braindancer
warned me about not being totally *****-catchworthy...
but I use ver. 10 on the http server to keep toads out and
it's caught all manner of blocklisted IPs. be sure to get
the latest updated blocklist, too. it's big, at 1.5 megs...
there's also a open nap serverlist.wsx (32K) that can
be imported into WinMX 3.x ...got a buttload of servers
of which some are history. I use DutchLeechNet, Total
Insanity, ScandiNap, MagyrRock, and a few others. the
p2p network I don't know much about except I get a
big fat line in the queue anytime I've connected to it
....you can use either P2P or Open Nap or both
I'm going to find a low-occupancy one to link the
whole library to. my fave low-user #s one died
....hidden on a Palace server from what I can tell
and on WinMX3.31 I have had a problem of when a
file is complete it'll hang and the next local-queued]
one won't start. set completed files to be taken off
the transfers window in five seconds. and when=20
doing a multiple snag offa a user, start one request
and then turn-on Auto Retry. then set-up the rest
of your requests, and they'll go to locally queued
when I don't do that, they all try to connect at once
....don't look too-good on the file-sharers' end
