We had a pet hedgehog. Her name was Thistle. She was the least-demanding pet I've ever had. The
hedgehog is a crepuscular animal, so she slept most of the day and most of the night, but at dusk
and dawn she was up and about.
During the ice storm of 1998, when all the power lines went down, we lost the heating in our
apartment. Thistle started going into hibernation. It was freaky. She looked as if she was existing
in slow motion.
She perked right up once we moved over to the in-laws, where they still had electricity and heat.
We had Thistle for five years. A cute and interesting pet. Not a cuddly one.
