I think I date it from the day we got back to Honolulu.
We've been taking Maia to gym classes--she loves it, the physicality of it,
and the recognition, too--the "ta da!" that they're taught to do at the end
of a move with their arms in the air.
Today, when I got home from work, she wanted to play on the bed--jumping
again and listening to hiphop.
So we got up there, and she did that for a while. And then in a fit of
exuberance she did a somersault out towards the end of the bed. The roll
took her into a sitting position, but too near the foot of the bed, and so
she tumbled off of it. I scrambled to the end of the bed to make sure she
was okay. She was already coming up, a little scared but exhilarated, and
thinking it was funny, too, now that she could see she was all right, and
then she me looking at her and seeing what she was thinking, and so she
threw her hands up in the air and said, "Ta da!"
What a lovely and sweet thing to come home to at the end of the day.
