BOULDER - Fumes from a chemical cloud sent at least 10 people to
hospitals and forced the evacuation of 260 others from a manufacturing
plant Thursday.
Workers at a Lexmark International Inc. plant were mixing two chemicals
**to treat floors** when the reaction released the fumes, Lexmark
spokesman Tim Fitzpatrick said.
In addition to those hospitalized, Fitzpatrick said other employees of
the plant, which makes toner for use in laser printers, were checked at
the scene by emergency medical personnel.
He said the fumes had dissipated but the plant was closed for the day.
Nearby residents were warned to keep doors and windows closed but were
not told to evacuate.
Colorado 119, also known as the Diagonal Highway, was briefly shut down.
----
But the people sent to the hospital seem to be fine, and only the north
end of the building was closed. The rest is still open - the facility
has a thousand+ employees.
From talking to employees in IBM it sounds like it wasn't much. The
Lexmark end of the facility is pretty separate from the IBM part.

My bad, sorry 'bout that. I gotta remember: don't mix bleach and ammonia.
