Jean, you're young and alive!!! |
Come out of your half dream dream....
and run (if you will)
to the top (of the hill)
Come into my arms, bonny Jean....
Where the sheep in the meadow, are...calling somebodies name, and
the pigeons....Oh I forget it.

Haha! That song is so ... running around meadows and stuff. I prefer the
Monkees Jean song - Wake Up Sleepy Jean, ohhh what does it mean to a
daydream believer and a homecoming queen....
What the hell *that actually means I have no idea but the Monkees were so
cool. I defy anyone to hum the opening sequence and have it not reside in
their head for at least a little while.
HEY HEY WE'RE THE MONKEES
and people say we monkey around
but we're too busy singing
to put anybody down.....
Of course my fave monkee was davey jones even though I'm approximately twice
as tall as him.

I can never think of any of the Jean songs without immediately thinking of
you. Jean, Jean, the Dancing Machine -- it's all you, baby. I did forget
about the sheep in the meadow part, though, and since one of my nicknames is
Cheryl Sheep, I shall now think of this as Our Song. I hereby promise to
periodically go out on the lawn and call your name. I don't care what the
neighbours think.

Hi bunny. Ya might stay away from the Bowie song, "Gene Genie, lives
on his back, Gene genie, loves chimney stacks, he's outrageous, he
screams and he bawls, Gene genie, let your self go, ohhhhh...."

They will look on, sheepishly.

(the nuns would have kicked me if i spelled 'neighbors' that way. I
would have kicked them back. Very cool.)

Oh man, I dreamed about them coming to my school, whisking me away from
the nuns, and teaching me "Last Train to Clarksville". Which I can
play, now . only took 40 years.
I defy anyone to hum the opening sequence and have it not reside in

You once thought of me, as a white knight on a steed, now you know how
happy, I can be...
and our good times start to something, without our love something
something,
but how much baby, do we really need.....
Cheer up sleepy Jean, Oh what can it mean to a daydream believer and a
homecoming queen (and here, my brother, who was ahead of his time,
would say, "Queeeeen, closet queen....")
HEY HEY WE'RE THE MONKEES
and people say we monkey around
but we're too busy singing

I bought a monkey as a stocking stuffer, that sings that, and throws
his arms up....very cool.
Of course my fave monkee was davey jones even though I'm approximately twice

I'm as tall as him. Maybe an inch or two higher. I like that little
finger snapping dance he did.
Oh yeah, he was British, and that accent....almost like a Beatle (in
that I couldn't tell Liverpudlian from Londonese)
THEN, 25 years later, they become FAMOUS again!!!
That was wild.
My fave was Mike Nesmith. Great looking guitars I could never afford.
trivia: his mother invented 'whiteout', the typing fluid.

I was just singing. I don't know Jean well, but I sing to people when
their name evokes a song. That was one by 'Oliver', from 19, what, 72
or something.

1969. Composed by Rod McKuen. From the motion picture _The Prime of Miss
