Just found out I have cataracts from Seroquel |
Hello,
I have been on Seroquel now for just over a year - 100 mg HS and 25 mg
AM. Anyways, I just got back from the optometrist and found out that I
have a cataract. I am only 33 years old and just had my eyes checked
right before I started Seroquel. At that time, I didn't have
cataracts. Cataracts is listed as a rare side effect of Seroquel.
Anyways, needless to say I am not happy about this. I remember my
psyciatrist telling me awahile back that she had never had a patient
that she knows of getting cataracts as a result of being on the
Seroquel.

I wouldn't be happy either. I'd be really really
mad and scared.

Cataracts can be fixed, and combined with laser vision correction you may
not need glasses afterwards. A pain and a large expense. Talk to a lawyer.
If the drug caused the problem, the drug company should pay the expenses.

this sounds like *****, but i do recall reading the abstract of an
article about this. i believe several atypical neuroleptics can cause it
(the first gen of atypicals).
