Object: Life should always be fun
I often think that Life should just be about having fun...going to
resturaunts,movies,plays,concerts,going to the beach,playing miniture
golf,swimming,reading,walking,sleeping,drinking,smoking pot ect...The
only problem is,as it talks about in the book I'm very slowly
reading,"escape attempts",is that you need people to work in order to
get things done.Obviously, for there to be
movies, plays, concerts, resturaunts, there has to be people working...So
much of life is about contradictions and paradoxes,I guess all we can
do is try to have fun as much as possible,to make unpleasent tasks as
enjoyable as possible...

I see what you're saying Thor.Honestly,I'd love to have more paid
work,as long as I enjoyed the work...(Though at this point,I'd settle
for more paid work, period.)To me,what's very sad is the fact that so
many people dislike the jobs that they have. That seems incredibly sad
to me...If I could find a paid job that I loved doing,I'd be very
happy.Such as answering phones for example.I love doing it at the Red
cross, but I think I'd have a very hard time finding a paid job doing
it...

I thought "Escape attempts" was a terrible book. It is based on interviews
with people in prison, and is supposed to generalise to the rest of us.

You didn't like "Escape Attempts"?I find it to be a very fascinating
book...(One of many books that I'm currently reading.)

Imagine what life was like for 99% of the people 1000 or 2000 years ago.
Or 10,000 years ago.
And I disagree that work is such a horrible thing. I'm training for a
marathon right now. It's hard work, I ran for an hour and 1/2
yesterday. But I love doing it, even if I have to push myself
sometimes. When I strip and wax a floor, I get a lot of satisfaction
out of it when I look at my finished product, and when the customer
thinks I'm a magician for making their floor look so clean and shiney.
Plenty of other examples.
There are some people who can't sit still for more than 10 minutes, and
are never happier than when they are working. Everyone is different.
