Lost time |
I have lost far too many years suffering from severe anxiety and bipolar
depression, before I even started to receive treatment for any of these
undiagnosed disorders. Eventually, I got xanax from my primary care doctor
who recognized some of the symptoms I described as anxiety. After many
years on xanax alone, circumstances made me see a psychiatrist. Then I was
on xanax and Zoloft-Celexa-Lexapro for many years. Unfortunately, this
first pdoc didn't even recognize that there is such a thing as bipolar
disorder type II, so he never gave me a mood stabilizer.
I finally found a better pdoc, who gave me depakote after diagnosing me as
bipolar. The depakote has made a tremendous difference. Now I'm also on an
antidepressant that doesn't make me feel as numb, unemotional, and
passivized as the SSRIs did. On Lexapro, all I wanted to do was sleep and
eat.
I wish I hadn't lost so much time. I've suffered from anxiety for as long
as I can remember, and a bad environment during childhood and adolescence
made it worse. I've probably been bp II for about 14 years now.
Better to recover late than never, I guess.
