Maia's alphabet |
Maia's alphabet has a zebra in it. When she gets to "zee", that's what she
says.
It has jokes in it, too.
Yesterday, when I was quizzing her (this was her idea, mind you, not mine)
and held up the "ex", she said, "Airplane!" Only it came out more like
"ahpane".
She knew the "ex" wasn't an airplane, but she really likes airplanes and had
forgotten.
At least, I think she'd forgotten. Later on when Kristina had joined us,
Kristina held up the little "ex", and Maia said, "Ahpane!" again, this time
I'm sure just because it was funny. Because she said, "little ex!" after
she had made Kristina laugh.
She still mangles the alphabet song, though. "H-I-G" and "Double-Y-X" are
two of her favorite sequences.

My sister thought the "elemeno" was one single letter.
We really need a better English alphabet song. The one-syllable
"letter names" don't really help ("aye" "bee" "cee")
I don't know what Russian letter names are. Other alphabets do
have distinctive (in most cases) letter names.
