Some of the ones that have GUI's are ok as far as learning purposes,
which is what I would use it for. You could go to a whole sale computer
place and get an inexpensive system with just linux on it, then use
your main pc for Windows. Macs aren't that bad either - less prone to
viruses. I've seen some good used ones for sale on ebay. Just some
thoughts.

I do not need to have many boxes for different OSs. I have many OSs in the
same computers all coexisting with winXP. The only reason I do not have a
Mac is its price, but I would like to.
