I don't watch it, and often avoid reading it in print,
and don't read GUI browswer sites, only text.
The murderer in this incident was not Amish,
he was from outside.

From the reports so far it doesn't seem like there were any warning signs.
The guy apparently kept it all inside - which is probably *why* he blew up.
I'm not too keen on this idea of looking for warning signs. They are now
talking about student councils having committees to discuss the *odd* kids.
You can't single out and target kids just for being weird or different.
That is usually why such kids are loners in the first place. Putting those
kids under the watchful eye of a committee of normie kids will just make
them feel more oppressed.
If kids in school, or adults in society, are making actual threats or
talking about a desire to commit some horrific crime, that should be taken
seriously, of course.
Even then, what can you do? They will just laugh it off as angry talk.

This will not work.
I'm disgusted, one of the bigger local papers put this
guy's picture on the front page. Not the victims, the
perp. This has been discussed many times many places.

I don't get the paper, but that does suck. Of course many of the Amish are
opposed to having their pictures taken, let alone published in a newspaper.
But I'd like to hear more about the kids, and less speculation about this
guy's delusional gripes against little girls.

no. besides, this guy was far from being a kid.

I don't get the paper, but that does suck. Of course many of the Amish are

one of our papers ran photos of amish people in the community on the front
page and in an inside spread. the article mentioned that they don't like
being photographed, but consented as long as they weren't asked to pose and
could ignore the cameras. there was one amazing picture, a group of three
men in closeup, with grief and incomprehension intense on their faces, that
will stay with me for a while.
the killer's photo was also on the front page, but small and below the
others. what always surprises me about these dweebs is how nondescript and
bland they look.

But I'd like to hear more about the kids, and less speculation about this
guy's delusional gripes against little girls.

the kids are entitled to freedom from scrutiny. i hope they and their
families aren't badgered by the media.

NO! your right that would be a horrible idea. I think people are
just desperate to do something, anything so this does not happen
anymore.
Did you hear about the woman who wants to take Harry Potter out of
the school library at her kids elementary school? She says it promotes
witch craft which is evil. People are freaked out over this and
there is bound to be a backlash. People are scared.

Yes, I heard about this recently. Again. I can't recall how many times
people have tried this around the country, or rather countries since it has
happened in the U.K., and probably other counties, also.
When are these ninnies going to learn that witchcraft works about as well

children so poorly that they worry about a novel corrupting the kids.

is kinda' frightening.
Though I did know a guy whose entire church locked themselves in their
