iTunes, pay for your music...it's not like it's expensive and you can get
the song you want or the whole album...and it's better than digging for
music with liability and music of unknown quality.

songs on iTunes are 99 cents each. You pay with a credit card. They have a
free song each week, too.

You can also record songs off the radio. Just get a $3 cord from Radio shack to
connect your stereo to the computer's LINE IN jack and use Music Match or
something to record. It's usually as good quality as MP3. I have recorded
sthousands of songs using this method.

I use I-Tunes a lot for my Ipod. I pay .99 a song and pay with my
American Express card.

I agree with Franz about bootlegging.
There is a certain amount of legitimate, free music out there; you can start by
looking at this wiki:

By posting this link, I don't promise that everything it takes you to will be
legitimate. For instance, you may hold that mixmasters like Chenard Walker--
whom you can get to through Oddio Overplay-- should not be sampling the work
they are. Also, a lot of the good music you can download is made available in
the hope that you will buy CDs. So, it's up to your judgment how much of this
stuff you want to archive.
