music is helpful |
Calm, soothing music in the car/truck can help prevent or reduce road
rage. Think Bach rather than Wagner. The latter is simply to engaging
and intense to listen to safely while driving.
The right music can be nice in the gym too. Some music is too
distracting or irritating, but the right music can help. Recently I was
sitting on a bike, pedaling at the right speed and with the right
resistance and right heart rate as usual. This can be quite boring after
a while, but when I noticed a nice pop song sung by a beautiful female
voice, it relaxed me and I stopped staring compulsively at the gauges on
the bike. After a while, I realized that I must be listening to Céline
Dion.

one of the news programs had a bit about music to lessen road rage; i
think it said that singing along with the radio helps to calm a person
while in traffic.

we watched "extinct' put on by the WWF fund to raise money for
endangered species. when they had to capture rhinos to relocate them,
they found that playing classical music calmed the animals.
i guess music does calm the savage breast.
i need the Waterboys "Fisherman Blues" or Bob Seger or Bruce Springsteen
or Neil Diamond or Bette Midler. i need to sing the tension out.

Depends on the song, of course.

ISTR reading that some rock music was played to
drive out wild elephants from some plantations.
