Object: my aunt will be dead soon
She's suffering from bone marrow cancer. Should a donor be found in time
(as in today) it would still be useless as they cannot operate until
they get her infection under control. Her liver is literally perforated,
she's receiving blood transfusions every 3 days and has no white cell
count. The doctors won't give any estimate of life expectancy but it's
likely less than a month.
My emotions on this are nill, perhaps I'll feel something in the future
but I know too much of the medicine and am disconnected.
No shows of empathy needed, thanks.

I'll offer no empathy then; just understanding. My grandmother on my
father's line went through something not dissimilar during December
2000.
And I felt just like you at the time. It's probably a perfectly natural
reaction.
(Can I send good wishes in your direction?)
