my newsreader (ot) |
is driving me crazy. every few minutes it pauses for 10 seconds.
if i type through them, the words come up after the pause, but i
can't see what i'm writing and i can't select any posts to read
until the pause stops. nobody has a clue as to what's causing
it. i'm using xnews, and nobody on the newsreader group has
heard of this. most frustrating.

Perhaps it's trying to reconnect to the server. Make sure your server is
configured properly, and that they aren't having authentication problems
on their side. Also, try turning off auto-reconnect, or adjust the
server query time. I don't use xnews, so I don't know.

thanks. there's no autoquery on it and it doesn't correspond to
when my email program's polling, so i'm clueless.

I remember trying xnews at one time and having the same thing happen.
You might try sending them an email.

I remember trying xnews at one time and having the same
thing happen. You might try sending them an email.
very odd. the author doesn't do email support, and since the so-
called experts haven't ever seen it, i have no idea what might
be interacting with it.
