answer the calls and listen, without running through a script
in a jaded fashion, trying to get me to go away, i.e. function
as a support line and not a robotnik assessment line
that's the first and most pleasant surprise. I can say "I feel
bad and also this happened and if I don't rant about it for a minute
I'm afraid I'll feel worse"
and there are _no_ anti-Rx items on the agenda
I suspect there is on one line that I tried a few times
so I'm not going to root in my files and post that one
NAMI NYC also seems to have functioning local programs, but that
wasn't why I called the support line today
.

That's cool. Somhow for me calling up a support line wouldn't really do
it for me. When I feel bad I don't want to talk, especially to strangers.
I could use some free legal assistance though, and not just advice but
real help. Of course someone has to pay the lawyer for his time...

if you want a cheap wide-area calling plan, check this:
http://www.broadvoice.com
I'm sure the landline here will die, soon, and everyone
else has cellphones that I don't know the numbers to
yeah, I'm getting a bit paranoid, but once I set-up the
box (they subsidize half the price of it), it's portable
so if they are getting rid of me, I'm not off the net...
just gotta lotta computer things I gotta haul-around
but, I got a bigass van that doesn't leak or reek...
har!

i like ours now. we got one of those all-for-one-price plans,
since we're right on the edge of our area code, and it was
costing me a fortune to call joe at work.

i've got a cellphone, but i hardly use it. doesn't work near
our house because they didn't bother to activate the tower
they put on the next hill over, so we have no coverage. so now
we all get to look at a lovely dead tower. unless the miliary
took it over...

we had a 1970 volkswagon bus that we ran til he was about 20
years old. lived in our driveway for years after he stopped
running. became the auxillary shed, since he never did leak.

I can get a local area code with unlimited instate calling
for $10. and all the goodies that drive a regular phone
cost, even with the Telephone Assistence Plan, over $30
I'm sure the landline here will die, soon, and everyone
else has cellphones that I don't know the numbers to
I keep paying them just for dial tone now
they don't like that at all...

what system? Cingular and ATT are merging and that might
change things. I had an ATT phone dumped on me that they
said would work everywhere. not! dropped calls even here
out on the Peninsula it was at risk of being crushed by forces
encountered during the power-line clearcut>woods>forest
transition, and it didn't work at all off the I-5 corridor. phuh!
I sent it back. I had a Motorola that would work anywhere,
even in Death Valley, with only a few no-service-areas...
plus, it was physically tough
but, I got a bigass van that doesn't leak or reek...

we (someone else) had one...water-cooled engine and a cat
converter, so it had to be a 75...hellishly expensive to fix even
if it was do-it-yerself. first gear never worked (automatic)
it got strange and stopped moving, leaving us stranded in
Tacoma Hell. suddenly-dead transmission and the rear end
was full of loose bearings, so it was technically dying, too
after I split, I was hounded by that vehicle, but I didn't have to
fix it anymore, unlike oldest grrl, who had a air-cooled version
she re-retained her x for extreme (pull the engine) exhaust work
he had a strange look on his face the whole time except when I
heaved the engine up. I think Taras' jaw hit the dirt when I did
that, but really, a vw engine is relatively light compared to a big-
block Ford, which is a real grunt to pick up and put in a car...
as in the passenger seat, to go to the machine shop...
totally thrashed the seat, too. heh...
