i cut back, then quit by switching to a couple cups of strong
tea instead of coffee, then cutting back on the tea. coffee, as
much as i liked it, was making my agitation much worse. now i
drink it once or twice a week, as a treat.
i love hot weather, but 105 is awfully hot. i'm glad to be in my
cool spot on the hill, where it's 10+ degrees cooler than in the
valley.

I have trouble with coffee as well... I had 2 cups once, and my
thoughts got really, really out of control... even one cup of coffee can
make me extremly anxious. I'm pretty sure I have OCD,and coffee seems
to make that a whole lot worse as well...

drinking coffee, i'd get very agitated with disregulated or
obsessive thinking, depending on the day. it took me a while
to realize that it was related to my coffee intake. i was in
partial hospitalization at the time, with coffee always
available. i finally realized that it hit me in groups about
1/2 hr after i'd had my last cup of coffee.

it only got up to 85f here today. 15 miles from here, in the
valley, it was in the mid 90's. this weekend should be
beautiful, though. i think the humidity is going to finally
break.

I am a coffee burnout. It takes me about 10 cups just to wake up. I
been like that for 25 years.

i was drinking 2 to 3 pots a day. then i went to 1 pot per day. now i'm
down to 2 to 3 mugs a day. feeling much less anxiety.
i drink Folgers or a budget blend. i prefer fresh ground and roasted beans.
i would like to buy a new grinder, new roaster, and a professional espresso
maker.

i really like espresso, in particular cappuchino and latte. but a good
machine is about $500. and it makes a mess. maybe some other year.
i like the real crema. mocha pot just isn't the same.

Me, too. And I don't like to make iced
out of hot coffee. It ends up lukewarm
and watery ... yucky. If it's gonna be
105 where Jill lives tomorrow, she could
make a jug tonight and have a sip of

Do you mean the leaf or a like mint
liquer? The leaf sounds good and I may
try it. I keep some mint leaves in a
bowl of water in the fridge with a
washcloth in it on these hot days. Just
wipe it on my pulse points and, I swear,
it's like a mini-meth experience. Don't
get it in the eyes, though. Owie!

It needs loads of sugar and I'm diabetic, sweetener is OK in coffee
but hmmm, I could make it with genuwine original cocoa powder and see

just be sure to add the milk very slowly and keep stirring
over low heat, or the cocoa all clumps up.

Ah yes, that was what I was wondering, I always used to mix the cocoa
with lashings of sugar and stir in some milk cold, make it into a
paste and add the boiling water and more milk. The sugar seemed very
important in the process of helping the cocoa dissolve smoothly.
Could never decide whether to add the peppermint oil at the beginning
or at the end.
Then of course there's carob powder. Hmmm I feel some experimenting
coming on.
