"NEW YORK - Scientists are testing seasickness patches and other
surprising options in a challenging search for new ways to treat the
crushing depression and uncontrolled mania of bipolar disorder.
Also called manic-depression, it's an illness that can rip careers and
marriages apart and drive people to suicide. And it's so complex and
mysterious that researchers haven't developed a medication
specifically for it since lithium, more than half a century ago."

It's a rather long article but very interesting to read what studies
they are conducting, looking for better treatments for bipolar
disorder. Most articles refer to bipolar in adults, but I'm
particularly interested because my 13 year old son has been diagnosed
with it since he was 7 years old be 3 different specialists and at a
pediactric psychiatric hospital, where he stayed for almost a month.
His diagnosis, along with 2 others, was confirmed during research
studies he participated in at Stanford University, so I am confident
that his diagnosis is correct. After googling pediatric bipolar
disorder, this is an informative site I found.

Anyways, that's all besides the point. It's exciting and gives me
hope to read about the advances that are being made in treating
bipolar disorder.
