New Mental Health Site, Social Network |
Hello Everyone,
My name is Mary. I just came by to introduce you to our new mental
health site: RealMentalHealth.com http://www.realmentalhealth.com
Our focus is really on treatment, including detailed information on
psychiatric medications for depression, anxiety, adhd, bipolar,
schizophrenia and more plus psychotherapy and alternative remedies. On
top of that, you can find out how to get prescription assistance (help
with paying for medications if you can't afford them yourself) and
other types of general information. We also have lots of audio and
video - real people who share their stories. We make it easy so you
can share yours too.
In addition, we have the first social networking site for people with
mental health conditions, along with their family members and friends.
Journals/blogs, video and regular chat, boards.
http://social.realmentalhealth.com
We put a lot of effort into it and I hope you'll check us out and
join and contribute to our community.
Thank you,
Mary

So how long until you sell out to News Corp? I don't like your portrayal
of the man with schizophrenia in your Flash banner.

i see what you're saying. maybe it's better than everyone being
young and beautiful, though, and they had to pick some disorder
for the old guy :-)

Older schizophrenics (in my experience) are usually very unkempt. I
could take picture of someone who would be much better.

maybe you should let them know. seems like they're looking for
feedback on the new site.

I did let them know in this newsgroup, and unless they're a careless
spammer, they'll come back to read.

actually, the site doesn't look too bad. it was set up by non-
profits, with advertising to cover operating costs. the info
looks pretty good, though i wish there were health
professionals involved in the writing, rather than
professional journalists. at least they did their research and
cited their sources throughout.
i'm going to bookmark this one and check back in a few months
to see how it settles out. it certainly gets an a for effort.
