normal nervousness |
I hope this is normal anyway. I think so.
I've prepared as much as I can for my new job. I've filled in my forms,
cleaned my car windscreen and mirrors so I can see better and I have clothes
ironed.
For therapy tomorrow night, I've prepared a list of former doctors and
therapists in chronological order with contact details and I found my copy
of the psych test I did a few weeks ago in case this new therp wants to use
it. I can't think of anything else I should do.
I'm very nervous about both work and therapy. If I find I can't sleep
tonight I am allowed to take the few temazepam I have left on an as needed
basis so I might need to do that.
I'm going to go distract myself with the TV in a bit and hopefully after
that I'll start to wind down a bit.

TV stimulates the visual cortex. read the Wikipedia article on insomnia.
it has some tips.

Sounds like you've already filled out the dreaded forms, but just in
case:
Things I always forget first day of new job:
- two forms of i.d. (drivers license, SS card, passport, etc.) for IRS
form I-9 for employment verification. See form for list of accpeted
i.d.s:
http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-9.htm
-knowing how many withholding allowances I want to list on form W-4:
IRS withholding calculator here:
http://www.irs.gov/individuals/page/0,,id=14806,00.html
Official IRS form W-4 here:
http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf
-A cancelled check for the direct deposit form
-social security numbers of beneficiaries you select for life insurace
proceeds (if applicable)
-Contact information (phone numbers) for emergency contacts.
-The dreaded insurance forms...if you know your employers provider,
review choices on website (HMO, PPO, Prescription Drug buy-ups, etc.)
have your own social security number also it's needed for the forms.
-Flexible spending accounts - are usually provided and can provide
tremendous tax savings - read up on them and decide whether you want
to enroll via payroll deduction - email me if you want me to expain
it's benefit, I use one for all my meds and pdoc visits.
-Cash for lunch!

You're not in the U.S. are you...sorry for the irrelevant forms
listing then.

Don't apologise, we still get pretty similar BS here :)
And I did forget a mobile phone number for my emergency contact, but luckily
I found the number and added it to the form later.
Luckily I had enough cash for car parking and lunch otherwise I'd have ended
up going hungry (better that than getting a ticket).
Anyway, I survived day one.

I think you're an amazing lady, kylie. You've done such a good job of organizing
yourself in the face of all the stress. Since you bring this kind of
preparedness to the new job and the new therapist, I expect you'll do well with
both.
I admire you.
