Time for a migraine. Half the letters have disappeared. Got to stay up
to get Wynne to college, too.

I would have accepted a migraine as the price for Wynne making it into
college for the first time in six weeks.

Uh, I hate migraines :(
I normally just take codine, but Tiger Balm (if they sell it in England)
works well if you massage it into your temples. I've also tried a natural
alternative thing called Migrastick which is a roll on bottle of oils like
lavender and stuff which really works (surprisingly).
I hope you find something to make it go away.

When I was in my teens, the eye thing happened to me too. I'd get a cresent
moon shaped band of noise in my vision. It looked like the noise on a blank
tv channel. It would slowly move to the outside until it dsappeared over
several hours.
Yep, freaky.
As I got older, it happened less and less.

my 11-yr-old has been getting bad headaches that his doc
thinks are migraines. he said that boys usually get rid of
them by their late-teens to early twenties, whereas girls tend
to keep them.

I'd say that is true in my case. I had them occasionally for many years
before they slowly went away by my middle teens.
Back in those days all we had was plain aspirin to treat the migraines.

Unfortunately I lead a information sheltered childhood. No internet. I had
no knowledge of pain killers other than aspirin. That knowledge would come
much later.
To this day I've never had morphine.

I've only had IV painkillers a couple of times, it's a hell of a bang. I
've taken it in pills too but that just winds up making me feel so
depressed. Found that part when I started having all the shoulder/neck
problems.
You should tell your pdoc you're looking to increase your exposure to
new things and "get out there". Then he'll be happy to hand you a script.

LOL!! I'll have to remember that for next time. Maybe he'll give me some

I knocked my head into a wall when I was in about 4th grade, it made my
vision go black and white for around 5 minutes. It's never happened
since then but it was so absolutely strange that the whole experience
pops up whenever I get an account of however an individual experiences
pain and screwed up vision.
BTW, I was riding one of those little scooter things where your butt
goes on a broad plastic seat and then your feet and hand go out in front
of you and then you move the handlebars back and forth (all wiggly
like). The pivot is just in front of the seat. Kind of like a
combination scooter/recumbant I guess you could call it. Anybody
remember these things?

Wynne left before it got too bad, then I napped. Then I napped again
after doing today's chores. Then it got bad again, so I slept. Now it's
a hangover and a low mood. I've had eight hours sleep today already, and
I'm ready for another nap. They don't usually last this long nowadays.

Loathsome things. I get the aura type. Had my first aura when I was 20,
thought I was going blind and/or having a stroke. If I take aspirin as
soon as I'm aware that the letters are disappearing, but before the
aura proper starts, I've usually got a 50/50 chance of heading it off.
Hope it stays away.

when allergy pills and aspirin didn't work, i would rub a body-ache
cream (in the states Ben-Gay) into the back of my neck and along my

I rarely get them these days, probably due to the meds - ADs have been
used as a preventive for decades. I can usually sleep them away, since
those I do get are mild by comparison to what I used to get. They used
to be stress relief triggered (every weekend by the time I was ready for
my breakdown, and the first day of my holiday if I went anywhere). I
haven't been particularly stressed recently, though.

Paracetamol and codeine for me. That and a nap have left me with a bit
of an ache, but nothing much.
It started off with me losing the ability to string sentences together,
which I find quite scary. It just depends where it hits.
