What a cesspool this place has become!
At least the conversation between Teilhard and Neoholistic about
swearing (in another language!) was interesting. Even if it was in
Spanish.

Espeacialy when people in this group encourage a person to kill
themself. That's sick and so are they.

Bah. Pretty insignificant nuissance, like background noise. Just ignore it.

LOL
(Actually the conversation was in english... but I agree, it was fairly interesting. I wouldn't have understood a word if someone from Mexico had addressed me like that before Teil explained their meanings... now I'm ready to rock :)

I use google. It is a rather unwieldly way of navigating usenet. It is
difficult to ignore it. It adds oh so much clutter.

True. But it was about swearing in another language. So, did all those
Spanish "fucks" you two were tossing about add to the potty-mouth
quotient, or was it all purely ... educational?

I believe the worse any of the Hispanics at my High School ever called
me was Gringo. Of course, addressing a Hispanic like that is--I
imagine--rather insulting.

I don't like Google, but it can be really useful if you're in a
Cybercafe or library. The interface could benefit from major
improving, though.

Totally and absolutely educational!
After all, if I started talking like that over here, I would recieve
quite some blank stares... anyway I suppose it's not really that
interesting, especially for people whose first language isn't spanish.
But I have an interest in language (in general), so getting to know
how my native tongue is spoken overseas has quite some appeal - the
exoticness of it can't be denied.
Its a similar case to some americans drooling over 'britspeak'.

I'm not qualified to answer that, but I reckon you can tell in the way
they say it. If they said it with comtempt or disdain, then it was
probably not intended in a flattering sense...
All I can tell you is that nobody here would have called you that.
Maybe 'yankee', but as a nationality instead of as an insult
(generally).
(Of course you could run into some racist arsehole - someone with a
very 'hispanic' (mestizo/mulatto/whatever) look could be called
a 'sudaka' - but those people are best ignored. Better consider them
the product of failed genetics. Or just kick them in the balls.)
