it once took a carrier a week to deliver an item that had been
sent overnight. it came in late, the truck broke down,...
it's ridiculous that yours wasn't delivered. it's not like you
live in the middle of nowhere.

I didn't see any cute little "we tried" tags, not with
my # on it.

They can't usually figure out where I live. I used to do mail order UPS
to our little post office and the woman who's been postmaster there
since the Truman era didn't mind. Now if you order online, you can just
forget about your order going through and shipping if your billing
address is different.
I think my route has high driver turn-over. You never see any delivery
drivers around for long enough to learn how t get to some of these
houses. I'd be frustrated too if I had to stare at a route book that
could never hope to match some eccentricities of some properties.

It could have been worse. Their 800 number did have
*driving* directions to the depot, and there was only
one depot possible.
Comparing experiences with others, in some places
they have no directions to depots, and the delivery
might be at either one of two 10 miles apart. Of
course, one will *not* be given a local number.
I wonder if there are directions on-line.
Some people find that their address is sufficient
for "everyone on the planet except UPS".
I'd be happy to pick up UPS deliveries, if the
place were more centrally located.
I see someone claiming that UPS drivers get docked
somehow if they do not finish their route for the day.
So any delay (having to go up to another floor, having
to ring a buzzer and wait) is not good for them. Hence
a lot of "we missed you labels"
I don't think they like residential business.
