If you were sweet on a bloke, suspected he was sweet on you, then how do you
get a date?
He looks at me tenderly, but we haven't spoken much.

Definitely not.
If a girl asks a guy out, the chance of him refusing, and her feeling
rejected is about 1%.
If a guy asks a girl out, the chance of her refusing and him feeling
rejected is about 99%.
It saves a lot of heartbreak if the girls always do the asking.

#3 My depression is much worse than my shyness.

#1 - It wasn't deleted from my server, so not my fault.
#2 - You look like a troll to me. I've seen your type many times. I
was about to recommend alt.support.shyness to you, because there are ton
of guys just like you there, and then I see that you were already there
before you were in asd. There are people here who are overweight, what
you wrote is just plain mean. It's mean, it's not nice, it's uncalled for.
#3 - The only thing I see you talking about is complaining that you
can't bang hot women because you're ugly. That's not the same thing as
depression. I can only go on what you post, and so far what you post is
rather limited in scope. If you're a real human being, by all means,
post away. Is there more to you than that you can't bang hot women and
you're doomed to fat ugly women therefore you want to kill yourself? Is
there more to you than that?

Also, I don't killfile. I prefer to talk things through, I'm willing to
give people slack, I hope people do the same for me sometimes. I think
it's necessary to do so in an environment like this. The real world is
rough and tumble, but sometimes if you talk things through with someone
you find out you're not so far apart as it first might seem.

I didn't target fat women, I targeted slobbishly fat ones. And, for
the purpose of argument, in most cases, HARD WORK AND EXERCISE can fix
this. I am genetically disposed to being extremely weak, but HARDWORK
MADE ME APPEAR STRONG.
Ugliness is something that you are born with and cannot change.
Maybe I should just come back when your internet police shift runs up.

There's a school of thought to that effect, and has a
lot to recommend it, if one's interest is romantic and
not business. One e-mail msg might not be too much.
For one thing, if the girl makes an overture, and is
rebuffed, it can be really painful. One of my relations
had this happen to her, and we still remember it, and
it was only a social telephone call.

One of the reasons I replied to Contrarian with that was I've been
watching people more of late and I've noticed that women seem to have
worse manners and are more rude than men. For instance, I very rarely
see a woman hold a door open or even look round to see if someone is
coming before just letting it swing shut in whoever is unfortunate
enough to be behind them. I also notice that women *will not* move out
of the way when you're laden down with bags of groceries, will stand
in the middle of the pavement gossiping and smoking and will give you
the most disgusting dirty looks and even abuse if you ask them,
politely, to move.
I'm not saying that all women are like that but there are enough that
I experience it on an almost daily basis. Most of them seem to be in
their late 40s, early 50s and walk around with the most torn-faced
expression you've ever seen! Looks like they've been sucking pickled
lemons.
