OT: Some Good Things |
Long time since I have done this, in public, anyay. {I do it several
times a week at home.}
1. Tomorrow, Tuesday, I am off to the Sunny South for two weeks to see
my sons and to get away from the Vermont snow.
2. It is snowing this morning, but they are the fat fluffy flakes that
don't last and are fun to walk in.
3. After having surgery for colon cancer AND a heart attack, my
partner Fred is well enough for both of us to feel comfortable with me
leaving for two weeks.
4. I have a new bread machine. {There was nothing wrong with the old
one, but this one has more bells and whistles!}
5. Home-made gingerbread {from scratch} is in the oven right now.
6. There is a white loaf with a crisp crust rising in the
afore-mentioned bread machine. {It is AMAZING how much better home
made bread tastes than the store-bought loaves.}
7. I went from 209 pounds to 160 pounds over the course of last year.
I am maintaining 160 pounds with very little effort and have been
doing that since September of last year.
8. I occasionally get "the blues", of course, but I have found my
almost-always twice-a-day 30 minute daily walks not only help keep the
weight off but banish the blues, too.
9. I <heart> my iPod deeply. There have been days when the skies here
in Vermont are grey and the temperature "feels below zero" that only
the thought of listening to my music as I walk has got me outside.
10. My dear Fred. I am more thankful than I can say that he survived
the surgery for colon cancer {and the cancer has not spread} and the
subsequent heart attack.

I am very glad Fred is on the mend.
And I am very proud of you for maintaining your wieght. While cooking
deleicous-sounding food, at that :)
I ahve reached the wight I wanted and am oin tprocess of switching to
maintenance and I am finding it more difficult than the diet itself).

I am STILL amazed six months after losing 50 pounds how much better I
feel.
I have energy and get things done. I vacuumed yesterday and was
reminded of how I used to have to sit down half-way through it.
The best part is that although I still have osteoarthritis, I am down
from a scary amount of ibuprofin perday to one tablet at night. One!
I can walk without pain. I can put weight on my left leg and hip
without pain. Just this fact right here is why I KNOW I will always be
conscious of what goes in my mouth and how much walking I have done.
{Umm, I also <heart> going from a DD bra to a C! LOL}

thank you so much for publishing your list again. it helps to
reflect those on things we have, rather than those which we do
not.
and congrats on the weight. i've got to get the 4 lbs off that
mysteriously appeared again last month :-)

Thanks! I intend to,
I am really REALLY hoping that the snow forecast for tomorrow holds
off a bit. {
Three to five inches the weather people are saying. Although, as Fred
remarked, he has picked me up at the Burlington airport in deeper snow
than that!}
