(ot)if you had only one song |
If you had headphones duct taped to your head for a week, and the same
song played over and over for that period (Ok, you win a thousand
bucks) and you could choose the song, what would it be?
Me: "The Association" playing 'Everything That TouchesYou'

I saw them on a recent 'revival' thing on PBS. They lipsynched a
portion of the songs, and the live part was dissappointing. I remember
seeing them on Ed Sullivan, probably lip synched, but I didn't know
what that was back then, so I loved it. Yes, they have 4 songs I
like....along comes mary
cherish
everything...touches you..and one more.
Oh yeah, windy.
they were an influence on Yes's early
music...
Huh. That's interesting. I like little facts like that. Like
McCartney said the best album he ever heard was 'Pet sounds' by the
Beach Boys.
Ya know what seems silly now? The Rolling Stones album with them on
the cover, kind of ripping off the cover from Sgt Pepper. "Their
S#4^#ic majesties request". One good song on there, 'she's like a
rainbow'. But nothing tops the quality of the beatles harmonies, even
'the association', which I think was great, has little mistakes in
their stuff, unnoticeable, really...unless you are duct taped to them
for a week. The Beatles, no mistakes, no slightly 'off' harmonies. I
would say George Martin was the reason for that.
One of the 'tricks' that Brian wilson used to make beach boys music
sound so good was double tracking each part. So if it's 4 part
harmony, each part is sung in unison twice. The Beatles used that
technique after awhile.
Another song with great harmonies, I could be duct taped to, is CSN&Y
and 'Whiskey boot hill/Country girl.' "when she learns of all your
lying, will she join you...there......
On 'there', the singing is intense.

Nope. Jeffery Phillip Wiedlandt was born in New Jersey.

jammed a bunch of classic rock and southern rock tunes from bands such

Not familiar with the artist. There's a lot of great music out there

Love to blast it.
