Palahniuk |
Palahniuk (Fight Club author) is a brilliant albeit overrated postmodern
guy. his stuff is simple to read, so if you are too stupid to handle modern
authors, you can still read it.
i think Fight Club is NOT about violence, but about consumerism and
individuality. i think it has an important theme as does Gattaca and Pi.
unlike most postmodern literature, it's straightforward and concise, and the
work is only convulted due to the nonlinear nature of various events (and
the fact that the narrator is fucking loony).
highly recommended, but there is greater literature out there, of course.

I read it as well, being a fan of the movie
i think it is about violence on a primal level (not just survival but
"life") in a fight against "The Machine" (ie society etc)
