People really don't understand depression |
Or care to understand...
I shared feelings of being ignored on a mailing list, and a friend of
mine responded with "***** you".
This triggered a nasty bout of you know what.
I feel like crawling into a hole until I can somehow scrub off the
target that seems to be painted on my back.
I shared being depressed with another friend once...his response was
"you are so selfish".

Most of the times the person has to go through such to understand how
it is or what it is. Ignorant people will not take it seriously and
even suggest religion, the 'just get over it', etc.

LOL you are so right!
I get all that stuff: religion, "you need to reprogram", new age
blame, "get tougher", "you just feel too sorry for yourself", etc.
It's a tough crowd out there.

I have a little list of People to Avoid When Depressed, now.
There seem to be a contingent of kick-her-when-she's-down types in my
life. Don't know why I draw them, though. I was wondering if some of
it might not be Adult Child of Alcoholic issues.
