While waiting in the pdocs office today I read an article about hyper and
hypo thyroidism and it said amongst other things the two most common
symptoms are feeling cold - especially hands and feet and extreme fatigue.
Given your recent feeling cold and exhausted post, I wondered if you had
been tested for thyroid problems. FWIW...:)

not recently. back when i went to the doctor for this originally they
tested me for nine million and three things- anemia was one, thyroid
was one, lyme disease was one (even though i never had a rash).
results came back that i still had active mono even though it was like
10 months post-infection. i haven't had bloodwork done since then but
i just feel like i never got better after i had mono.
or maybe it's just the depression.
(two of my good friends are hypothyroid, actually)
thanks for thinkin' of me, rhiannon :)

Ah...well...that could be it too then. My brother had mono when he was 17
and he said the same thing, that he has never felt the same again.

or maybe it's just the depression.

You're welcome. :) This is getting off topic, but when I looked at your
photo on the pic page, I was amazed at how cute and *tiny* you are. How on
earth does someone your size handle those two powerful dogs? You're brave
girlie. <g>

i'm not tiny! lol. i'm 5 foot 8 and i wrangle stupid butthead dogs on
a daily basis. i've got muscles!
i actually had a client at work ask me if i lift weights one time. i
was helping her brother lift a huge heavy metal dog crate full of lab
puppies into the back of their truck. i said no, just large dogs ;)
and for the most part, my dogs are fairly well trained and there's not
that much "handling" involved.

I was gonna say! You know what I thought? Luce looks smaller than in her
individ pics. I figured you for a tall drink of water.

I'd bet when a dog like mine starts yapping at 'em a bit of arm musculature
is involved.
There are two pits that live right across the street - owners are ignoring
the muzzle law (not that I mind, they're always leashed). My crazy
territorial eskie freaks out every time she sees them. She's unacquainted

luce is just a tiny peanut girl. both of my dogs are only 17" at the
shoulder. my miniature poodle was 12.

luce is generally fine unless the dog is behind a fence. she's got
issues about dogs behind fences. mushroom gets his panties in a wad
about a lot more dogs but he usually leaves it pretty well when i tell
him.
except when it comes to my neighbor's schnauzer. they both would
gladly eat him for a snack.

it kind of pisses me off to hear that they're ignoring the muzzle law
but i get the impression a lot of people are. i could never be that
casual and careless with my dogs' lives. ugh.
your eskie is just an eskie lol. they're supposed to be watchdogs.

I wouldn't have guessed you to be 5'8" and I'll take your word for it on the
muscles, but you looked small boned in that picture. I'm amazed at how
strong Pits are. I doubt I couldn't handle one. I think I'd be afraid to
try. But OTOH...like you said...well trained makes a difference.

i actually had a client at work ask me if i lift weights one time. i

Laugh! My dog lifting days were short lived. Before Penny the Jack, I had
a female Boxer, after having her spayed she wasn't allowed to climb stairs
until her stitches healed and she was uncomfortable enough that she didn't
want to anyway. She slept with me in bed everynight and genius that I am I
decide I'm going to carry her upstairs because she wouldn't walk. So now
112 lbs of me is struggling to carry a 70 lb Boxer up a 12 step staircase.
When we got to the top I put her down, then, well, pretty much just keeled
over, almost sure I was having a heart attack. I strained muscles I didn't
even know I had. It was awful. Never again.

they are strong and they're freaking *determined*. when luce was so
freaking out of control every time she saw another dog (when i first
got her), if i couldn't control her on a leash, i'd just pick her up.
she wore a harness for awhile so i could just reach down, grab the
back of it, and pick her up like a suitcase. she didn't much
appreciate that, come to think of it lmao.

i actually had a client at work ask me if i lift weights one time. i

hee. luce was spayed the day before i got her and boy it didn't slow
her down one bit.
i had times at the job where i worked overnights alone that i'd get
old/sick/weak dogs outside to go potty and then they'd decide they
were done and wouldn't want to walk back inside. i'd be there alone,
in the middle of the night, usually in the winter or the rain or
something, and trying to figure *something* out to get them back in. a
lot of times if i supported their hind ends, they'd walk with their
front ends, but there were times i had to just pick 'em up and carry
'em in, so i totally know what you're talking about! luckily there
were no stairs involved ;)

and for the most part, my dogs are fairly well trained and there's not
that much "handling" involved.
