Hey Glenn, have you been following the holiday saga of the
Riley-Thompson family that's being serialized in the New Zealand
Herald?
I'm still trying to figure out if Graham Reid is writing fiction
or if it's all based on fact.
And I've learned a new word, "stink", although I don't use it
quite as frequently as Amber.
If anyone wants to see what I'm talking about, here's a link:

I think it's real. It sure sounds real. Teenagers seem the same the
world over. Hateful little shits most of the time with occasional
moments of being useful and/or endearing. I intend to sell my
children for medical experiments as soon as they turn 13! I am
reliably informed girls are worse but that could be pure sexist
***** of course.
"Stink" was around when I was a teenager. It brought back some
memories!
Hope your new year was good, mine was very good. Great little
holiday we just had.

That's why I had such a good laugh reading the series. I was
exactly the same kind of endearingly hateful little ***** as
Amber. Did me a world of good to laugh at my 13-year-old self.

Lemme see, Amber used it as a noun, a verb, an adjective, an
adverb, and if I'm not mistaken, a preposition. That's more use
than I ever got out of the word "*****".

<(((*> Hope your new year was good, mine was very good. Great little

I guess that means you didn't go caravanning. ;-)))
We saw Lord of the Rings last weekend, and it has just confirmed
once more that I **MUST** visit NZ before I die. I think you live
on the outskirts of Heaven.
Otherwise the holiday is good for being just that: a holiday. I
have 2 weeks away from work, time to spend with family, and the
remains of a turkey to turn into stew.

Hehe. Yeah, I was no angel either.

Unfortunately, by the sound of Amber, she wouldn't have a clue what
you are talking about.

I like caravanning! It is camping that I can't stand anymore.

Well, it has it's moments... unfortunately reality and fantasy
cannot coexist without one destroying the other. This is a
stunningly beautiful land but there is much ugliness and corruption
deep within it's heart.
It is therefore the perfect place to holiday, if not to live. You
have to be born here to be able to really cope. There are many of
thousands of ex-pats pining for their homeland, looking across
bridges they have long ago burnt.
My father is one although he would never admit it. Paradise is hard
and a beautiful backdrop does not change the nature of the action at
the centre of the scene. If anything it seems to fling into a stark
hopeless relief.
Forgive me, it seems my mood today is not going to change unless I
do something to make it change.
