Please answer my online survey |
I'm a psychology student that does not grasp statististical validity.
I shall survey the depression group to measure the correlation between
suicidal ideation and internet useage...this sounds reasonably free of
bias...I'll go with it.

Lemme guess, you only ask sparingly.
As sparingly as all the other psychology students. Who want to sit at
home and drink beer because they think surveymonkey is a *brilliant* way
to have things done for you

i checked it out, too. i didn't think it was too badly done, and
they did give a couple of places for comments.
i rarely look at these studies. the times i had, they were much
worse than this one.

Hi Bacon, hmm, I guess you are responding to my survey post. I would
be happy to discuss statistics, and what constitutes validity with
you. For now, let me say that when doing exploratory research (which
is often the case when little or nothing is known about a particular
phenomenon or group) we are looking at tendencies, patterns, etc. From
those results we will next move on to more specific tests, of
association, etc. The survey in question was designed to collect data
on a wide range of factors, that are of interest in this area. While
the survey is not entirely based on open responses, there are
opportunities for respondents to state their opinions, in an anonymous
and confidential manner. Those opinions can go a long way towards
improving future research directions.
Thank you for your contribution to this discussion.

If you can't analyze the data there is no point amassing it. Just
because beauracracy finally caught up with education is no need to get
irritated at reactions. Everybody reacts badly to modern beauracracy.
Just remember. If you can't make an experiment repeatable it is not
scientific.
Now apply that to your survey and see what you come up with. Why do
depressives do what they do? Most of us can answer that easily. It is
because our minds tell us to. Now if you could nail the why "our minds
tell us to" part. Then you are getting somewhere.
However, if you are still at the why do depressives do what they do
part... then you are obviously an idiot and should be ignored.

Well I post surveys in this group for fun and to help us understand
the real makep of the group...you'd learn a lot from this one. Don't
just steal the data though, refernce Bacon and I will feel important.

I like your surveys...but it's a lot different when it's somebody from
within the group who wants to come up with goofy little things about
each other. Somebody who *contributes* to the group is able to make a
survey about what I'd find interesting. Answering questions about the
"biggest ASD events" beats "How much do you think depression affects
your ability to manage your finances?" - A lot, Somewhat, No difference,
Helps... BORING!

That's especially funny... and frightening.
Of 1000 pot smokers surveyed 100% say they smoke pot.
