Poll: Would you want to be someone else? |
Take the following scenario:
You are offered the immediate chance to become a different person, you
don't know who you would become, but you would lose the body you are
in and all the memories/people associated with it.
Would you?

No way. Not without knowing who I would end up being. Then again, if you
lose all the memories you wouldn't know you chose to do it. Come to think
of it, how do we know that this doesn't happen every day? We all might have
been someone else when we went to bed last night.

Yes. I may risk becoming a starving person in a 3rd world country,
disfigurement or something worse, but to me it is worth the risk. I
figure even starvation is better than the (not suicidal yet but a
certain shot that I will be at some distant point in the future)
condition I'm in. A long life is not something I hope for on this
earth, but it is the one thing based on my family history that I'm
certain to be riddled with. I'm a social pariah with multiple mental
illnesses/problems, and when/if that time comes I want it to be over.
I desperately fear that I will lose control at that distant future
point, as it is certain that I will be alone & friendless forever.
Some people are just beyond help/broken brain/whatever... the mental
health system has done me no service either. Plus, people are tired of
hearing about it. I would LOVE in a heartbeat to become someone
else...ANYONE else.

I suggest you try to become someone else... perhaps someone intelligent.

No. I like my body, but don't like my mind, or my
face.
It would be a red/black card double up on a poker
machine, and I'd lose.
I'll not push my luck. Not a gamble to take..
