Poll:What book(s) are you reading now? |
1)I'm currently finishing "Against Interpretation" by Susan
Sontag(extremly interesting.I'm going to read more of her books.)
2)I'm in the middle of "Escape attempts-the theory and practise of
resistance to everyday life".(interesting.I forget the authors'
names.)
3)Enduring Love-Ian McEwan(first novel that I'm reading in a
while,I'm taking a break from my favorite author,Agatha Christie for
awhile)
One of my goals is to read more.some people literally read
hundreds of books a year. There's no reason I can't read at
least,say,10 books a year...my attention span isn't so great these
days,but I can improve it...

"Eternity" by Greg Bear. The sequal to "Eon."
I only read one book at a time.

'White powder, green light' - James Hawes. Humorous fiction about making
a film.
'Once more, with feeling' - Victoria Coren and Charlie Skelton. Humorous
non-fiction about making a (porno) film.
The last book I read was a humorous novel about making an advertising
film. They were all spur of the moment, 'that's a nice cover',
purchases. I've never before read anything about making films.
I have bookmarks in a lot of other books, but I'm not actively reading
them. It's very difficult to read these days.

1. "The Sun Also Rises"--Hemmingway
2. "Discipline and Punish: The Birth of the Prison"--Michel Foucault
3. "Just Being Difficult? Academic Writing in the Public Arena"
--Jonathan Culler
All at once. I expect I'll remember nothing of any of them when I'm done.

I am reading nothing. That's right, nothing. The closest I come to
reading is scanning posts on ASDF, sports on ESPN, and news on CNN.
The only printed text I read is whatever is in the bathroom at an
opportune moment.
I do love to read, and I just can't make the time. Time is my fucking

Oh, yes. That's absolutely hilarious. I had to go to ***** sometimes while reading this one, just because of the laughters.
For those who haven't read it, the main character thinks that what the USA really needs is a monarchy, and that most of the problems in the modern world are caused by its lacking of enough "geometry and theology". 'Nuff said.

Currently, _Teach Yourself Buddhism_ by Clive Erricker. I have a deep
interest in Buddhism, though my personality is not suited to full
adoption of the lifestyle. The nice thing about being Pagan is the
freedom to adopt what works from all the world's spiritual systems.
After that I will be reading _Magical Passes_ by Carlos Castaneda.

Currently I'm on the fifth in a series of (apparently) 14 books
by Nora Roberts (writing as J.D. Robb): 'Ceremony in Death'. The
protagonist in these books is a NYC Police Detective Eve Dallas
who solves murders in the year 2056 (I think). It's not really
science fiction, the author throws in some changes in technology
and culture...'Mag' seems to be a popular slang word. There's
some gushy romance stuff between the Detective and her multi-
billionare husband but that's easy to skip over for the most
part. I got a few more of the series books on hand and then
I'll have to hit the big book stores to complete the series.
Anyways, waiting in the wings I've got Scott Turow's "Reversible Errors"
and Patricia Cornwell's "Portrait of a Killer" (speculation about Jack
the Ripper...otherwise I've stopped reading Cornwell because she's
gone over the top with all the gushy romance for my tastes).

Oh, I really liked Kathy Reiches' books! She's on my list
for authors I automatically get their latest. I don't recall
Sparks, I'll look for him.
I guess I would recommend Cornwell's earlier Dr. Scarpetta
novels: Postmortem, Body of Evidence, etc. She got mushier
further on in the Dr. Scarpetta series...

1 childrens book - antoine de saint-exupery "the little prince" (reading on
recommendation)
That's not so much of a 'childrens book' as it looks at first... things are not always what they seem to be. Highly recommended anyway; interesting mixture of naiveness (perfect for children) and bitterness (or was that my very own perception?).
