powerpoint |
is $200.00!?? i need to work on work for work at home. and i'm working on
powerpoint slides converting them to html for our websites. i wonder if
they will let me take home powerpoint from work and load it on my home
computer. seeing as i'm doing work for them. or will they buy it for me
to use at home? hell if they want the work done, i'll do it..... but how
can i do it with out the proper tools?

According to most software houses, that's against the terms of use, so it's
not likely a company will allowy you to do that.
seeing as i'm doing work for them. or will they buy it for me
to use at home? hell if they want the work done, i'll do it..... but how
can i do it with out the proper tools?
they may buy it for you to use for a while, with an understanding that it
remains the company property and that they may take it back to the office.
But, may not be very likely. Depends on the company.

Our company has a virtual private network (aka tunnel) that lets
us work from home. With that, plus NetMeeting, I use my home
computer to access my desktop and work from my C drive. My
desktop is licensed to use the corporate software, and I'm using
it on the desktop, not on my home system.

That's pretty neat that they have it set up like that.
It would be so nice if more companies are that advanced.

Check with the company. Microsoft has provisions in their corporate
licensing that may permit a given number of licenses to be used by
employees at home. It's become necessary with all the tele-commuting.

"OpenOffice.org" is a free package that includes "Impress" for
presentations, (and has word-processor and spreadsheet applications too) and
is able to read and write MS-Office files and can export Impress slides as
HTML (although there might be one or two gotchas to tidy up). It runs on
Windows, Linux, or Mac.
Download it, or order CDs, from <http://www.openoffice.org/>.

i would let them pay for it. my company provides lap tops for people
that need to work at home.

you should be glad to spend $200 on micro$oft powerpoint. i've heard
that both bill gates and his wife have some jewish ancestry. many other
ms executives are jews... aren't you glad to make them richer?
