You can put as many emoticons after the above statement as you like and it
will still come across as rude and defensive. There was no humour in that
statement and you know it. I understand that it's easier to pretend you
were misunderstood rather than own up to your mistake, but I don't know that
it's the healthy thing to do. If you really are here trying to help a
friend, you're probably a good person, and well worth helping. If Jane is
right, and it's really you who needs the help, but for whatever reason you
were unable admit that, rest assured that we have heard it all before and
you can still tell the truth without it being a big deal. Either way, had
you responded to Jane with a simple clarification, sans the sarcasm, the
replies to you would have been far more positive, and Jane, one of the
kindest people I know, would likely have been a big help to you. Try again
if you want. Your decision. Second chances around here are par for the
course. If you decide to mosey anyway, then I wish you good luck with your
