Object: Problem solved. Read Charles
The problem with my computer was similar to yours, Charles. I released the
dissipator and there was a big hole in the film which actually makes contact
with the metallic part of the processor. Fortunately, when my fan failed and
went to buy it new, they said they didn't have the fan itself, they only had
the fan with the dissipator. The difference in price was not that big, so I
bought both things. I had the dissipator somewhere and I went and replaced
it by the damaged one, and voila, everything is back to normal. Only thing
that I do not like is that the new dissipator is smaller than the old one.
But it seems to be doing its job properly. Nevertheless, I will go and buy
another one as large as the one I had. Only then I will be able to put my
mind at rest.
If you hadn't put me in the right track of where to look, I'd probably still
have the problem. So, I own you one, Charles.

Good, glad you found it. That seemed such an odd problem to me that I
thought I'd share what I found. Now everyone knows it. <:-)
