Quote for Gayle |
Your Lincoln quote reminded me of this quote:
"To know, yet to think that one does not know is the best,to not
know, yet to think one knows, that will put one into difficulty"
-Lao Tzu

To seek is not to know, the two states come from opposite ends of
the spectrum. To learn is still not to know, the feeling is very
different. To know is fleeting and is gone before you realize it.
But, like foreplay in sex, it makes all the work worthwhile.

So, you thought you knew that all Republicans are mean-spirited and bad
people. You seem or seemed to be pretty sure about this. In the
context of the above quote, now what?

To be an American is a tiny part of your total existence. To be a
Republican or Democrat, even less so. To only see yourself (in the
context of online) as a thinly painted chorus who must think of
something witty to say is one thing, to believe it is another. I
wonder which is which with you.
I had my first practical coffee making lesson tonight. Soon I am
going to be a Barista. I never thought that would happen.
