Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be
changed regularly, and for the same reason.

The problem with politicians is that sometimes they leave institutions.

well, the EFF says the one decision is bad. I believe them.
then some Patriot Act stuff, and the upcoming CAFTA. Real
bad.
Once or twice I think of tuning out the world entirely, but
if I do I notice I really am much less functional.

Yeah, it's bad. How it won't make a police state remains to be seen. There
are good reasons why intelligence agencies should operate only abroad or
against diplomatic domestic targets or as counterintelligence, or why
military intelligence becomes concentrated in a naval wing. They can
easily form secret police and shadow governments, can become a Securitate,
like in Romania.

if I do I notice I really am much less functional.

Maybe finer tuning and filtering would help.

It's happening like that world-wide.
And the more people tune-out, the worse it'll get as nobody interprets.
I assume nobody interprets anyhow. They can hand out diagnosis's to
ignore the effect these things have on people... But anyway, i'm a
depressive, what would I know....

I almost had myself convinced today that the depression (mine)
is bc I am alert and informed etc. But I don't think it is.
Oh well.
but there's a fair amount of nescience or denial on the
the part of vs ppl here, the "don't worry be happy" USAian.
tired of banging up against that wall.

The problem with politicians is they mistake intellectualisation for
experience... In the old days, it wasn't a career choice.
