Re: How Do I know If I suffer from depression |
I've been feeling down for almost three years. I have weeks throughout that
period of time where I feel "happy" but my mind keeps spiraling downward to
bring me back to where I waas before. If possible even if i could have any
more info or even a good website which can help me get more info before I
see a doctor.
Thanks in advance

its time to see a doctor , i mean lets face it ,
does it sound like a question someone not depressed would ask ?

If you've been feeling down for almost three years, you've already
answered your question. Now you need to see a psychiatrist to work on
solutions.

This is a link to an online screening test, actually designed
and tested for use online by people at home:
<http://www.med.nyu.edu/psych/screens/depres.html>
See how you answer and take the results to your primary care physician, a
general practitioner or family practitioner and ask for a full screening
for mood disorders. There should be a complete blood count and blood tests
for thyroid dysfunction and diabetes included.
Here is a link to a web-site developed and maintained by a recognized
expert in mood disorder:
<http://www.psycom.net/depression.central.html>
There are also the Goldberg Mood Scales:
<http://home.blarg.net/~charlatn/depression/scales.txt>
You can use them to plot your mood from time to time and the information
will be useful to physicians and therapists.
