Sexual fascism and the Mark Foley scandal
Apparently, Rep. Mark Foley is homosexual. And like many homosexual
men, he likes young teen boys. We should pray for him that he gets a
handle on this problem and refrains from harming any more kids.
Meanwhile, we need to wake up. The fact that this is typical behavior
for homosexuals doesn't stop us from continuing to elevate such folks
to positions where they gain access to our kids.

Attraction to young boys is not rampant among homosexual men. In fact the
rate of pedophilia in homosexuals is much lower than in heterosexuals.
Not that this case involved pedophilia which, by definition, involves an
attraction to prepubescent children, not teenagers.
The rate of attraction to post-pubescent jail-bait is probably nearly
equal. God knows there are enough television specials doing hidden camera
stings of men trying to meet with girls age 14 and up.

I think you need to start defining your terms before you conclude about
relationships. By pedophilia, do you mean 'attracted to prepubescent
children' or do you mean 'acting upon an attraction to prepubescent
children.' Ditto for ephebophilia and postpubescent children.
Most confrontational crimes are committed by men, so if you meant 'acting
upon...' as your definition, then there is a link to gender. I do not
believe that there are any differences in attraction that have been
documented relating to gender or sexual orientation. Men tend to pick
mates that are younger, but that is partly because women tend to pick
mates that are wealthier (which is correlated with age).
You also need to separate out pedophilia and ephebophilia. Penile
tumescence tests are routinely used to predict recidivism in sexual
offenders, and the research conclusively shows that very few men (<5%)
are sexually attracted to prepubescent children. It also shows that men
show identical sexual attraction to postpubescents and adults. I.e., our
bodies identify postpubescents as physically being adults. However, I
don't think that having a physical sexual attraction makes you a
ephebophile, otherwise the entire population would be guilty. Pedophilia
seems to have some sort of abnormal attraction at its core, whereas
ephebophilia is more purely a moral failing.

i dunno... there's been some pretty torrid female teacher young male
student , ummmm, "assaults" publicized too.
wait. are those really attacks? or after the treacher gets thrown in
the clink, does the kids dad tell the kid "good for you?"

I wouldn't be too confident about that. Being female correlates more with
child abuse than being male. No surprise since, traditionally, women have
been the primary caregivers. What was a surprise was the amount of sexual
abuse of young children committed by women. Unlike males, females tend more
towards sexual torture of very young children, as opposed to just sex.
As far as older kids, the big cases in recent years of female teachers
having sex with students are by no means unusual. Most boys, however,
consider themselves lucky to have an affair with an adult woman and are not
going to spill the beans to their parents. God knows I wouldn't have if
"Nips" (my eighth grade English teacher) had offered to show me a little
more of the source of her nickname.
There is a fair amount of adult women enticing young girls also. But
strangely that tends to be overlooked. All in all, I think male/male sexual
relationships are still considered horrific while female/female
relationships are considered to be mere experimentation. Or maybe because
men are seen as aggressors while women are seen as comforters.
Women, however, are plainly far more discrete on average. And being more
emotionally in tune means that women are better able to tell the difference
between consent and coercion.
