Remeron- how does it work |
I had question a couple questions about remeron. I've taken every
antidepressant imaginable, including remeron. Currently taking 10mg
lexapro and recently quit taking wellbutrin 150mg/morning and remeron
45mg at night. I have a lot more energy since I quit the latter two.
I have problems sleeping though and remeron will put me out, so I use
it occasionally. My question is what type of AD is remeron. I get a
mixed message from doctors and reading about it. Is it an SSRI? Does
it help with dopamine levels or serotonin? I ask because I used to
drink a lot(alcoholic!), but quit while I was on the drowsy mixture of
the three AD's. I now have cravings again for alcohol and opiates that
went away while on using the three afore mentioned drugs together. I
see where dopamine plays a major role in one's cravings for drugs.
First does remeron stimluate dopamine? Second could adding about 30mg
a night for sleeping also help with alcohol and opiate cravings?

Remeron is an odd drug, and useful. Rather than getting into the

Very informative website. Just today I received in the mail a letter
from my health care provider that they had called the doctor for me and
changed me from lexapro 10mg to generic celexa 20mg to save money.
They claim the two drugs to be the same. I been doing OK on lexapro,
will celexa be the same?

Lexapro and Celexa are not the same, although they are very similar.
You might do fine on Celexa, but this cannot be guaranteed.
