well fact of the matter is ,
he has never been behind ,
well , maybe once , for a day ,
the whole thing is unfolding just as I said ,
get set for 4 more years of George
and I say this without prejudice because ,
it doesn't matter to me who wins

The 'polls' can say whatever they want them to and they want them to
give the impression that resident evil shrub and his owners are
running 'neck and neck' with the other candidate so that when they
steal THIS election, it will seem acceptable.

With due concern for using a campaign line from the movie Wag the Dog, I'm
guessing that a lot of people are fearful of changing horses in the middle
of a race.
What Bush wants to do in Iraq is known. When pressed, Kerry agrees
wholeheartedly, but says that he would do it "right". When asked for
details, he offers only generalizations such as "I'll get our allies to
help us."
Kerry never explains that. Yet in many people's minds it seems relatively
simple - our allies *are* helping us. Those who refuse to help don't seem
to be allies at all.
The oil for food scandal isn't helping Kerry. Since many people assume
that when Kerry says "our allies" he actually means France, it leaves some
wondering what it is he is going to offer France in return for their
assistance.

The polls are a mixed bag atm. I wouldn't be too terribly concerned - just
concerned enough to go to the polls and vote, and just concerned enough to
bring a friend or two to the polls as well.

Here's some polling data from the 3-way (Kerry-Bush-Nader) matchup:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/bush_vs_kerry.html
Here's the two-way numbers:
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/bush_vs_kerry_hth.html
If you start looking at some of the other polling data that I've seen
around, Bush's support isn't especially strong. His approval rating has
stayed below 50% which is not good for an incumbent, most Americans think
the country is heading in the wrong direction, etc. Internals from many of
these polls show Kerry doing especially well with young voters, seniors, and
oddly enough men. Aside from the rabid Bush fanatics (movement
"conservatives") his support has grown more tepid with each passing week.
I've been especially impressed with the increased assertiveness of regular
conservatives and moderates (the sorts of folks who would be derided by the
White House as the "reality based community") in breaking ranks and throwing
their support for Kerry.
Assuming that this will be a close race, it'll come down to GOTV and the
extent to which GOP partisans attempt to tamper with the votes.
I've probably said it before and I'll stand by this: Kerry's got a damn good
shot at winning - voter turnout promises to be large relative to previous
election cycles, mainly due to a lot of angry and highly motivated
individuals who are sick of the mess Bush and his party made. By comparison,
Bush's supporters seem relatively demoralized - heck the series of debates
set off a lot of cognitive dissonance for those folks when they saw their
icon's poor performance. That's just my two cents. Take it for whatever it's
worth to you.

No worries. The mass media here in the states is giving us pretty much the
same story you get. I'm just giving you the story from the various wonks and
activists who live for this stuff, and/or who are on the ground and have a
pretty good sense of what's going on beyond the polls.
