so I've been reading up on one subject, compulsively
the true kind of compulsion, the life diminishing kind
and one person I know says the subject isn't worth it.
after about 100 repetitions it begins to sink in,
and maybe I'll have stopped it.

i tried a couple of times to learn c++, but couldn't retain
enough to get through the third chapter before forgetting the
syntax i'd learned in the first. maybe i need to read it a
hundred times.

i think hands-on is best for learning that stuff. just grab a compiler and
start coding. c/c++ are my fave languages. they were my bread & butter
for years.

i have a compiler, and the book was very much based on hands-on
learning. i've taught myself other languages (chiefly xbase- i'm
old ;-) but this is more than i can do myself.

i've got a good intro book, and a dictionary. it's just very
hard for me to learn technical things. i had too much ect a
few years ago, and my memory still isn't what it had been. the
book makes perfect sense until i realize i've forgotten
everything that came before. i think i'm going to take a
longer rest.
thanks for the offer!

but maybe you start counting from 1 again once you have reached 100?
get stuck in a big loop.
