Hi
I've produced a DVD which might be of help to people who experience
seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Its designed to replicate the
function of a lightbox - where you play the DVD through your TV and
experience a range of images representing the sun, sunlight and sunrays.
The visuals are accompanied by relaxing music.
The DVD may also be of assistance/interest to others who experience low
moods at times of the year other than winter.
A low-res sample from the DVD is available at

Please contact me if you are interested in further info,

Good idea, except for one little thing. There is no way a TV can put out the
intensity of light that is required to treat SAD. For relaxing, it's
probably great, but no better than those "nature" DVDs.
I don't really have SAD, but I have an Apollo light box that I use in the
winter in the "what the heck, it can't hurt" category. I set it up on my
desk off to the left about 2 feet away.. It's like having the sun beside my
monitor, which is exactly what you need. If you suffer from SAD, check out:

As you can see, a whole lot more expensive than a DVD, but you really do
need that kind of light for light therapy of SAD. You are trying to fool
your biological clock into thinking that the days are longer than they
really are. Works best when you get up and use it while it is still dark, of
course.
I've found that tanning beds, even with the protective goggles you wear,
have a notable positive effect for me if I go often enough. I don't know why
that should be.

Very very big plasma screen?
(Well they have to be good for something)

Vitamin D?
Yeah I find sunlight helpful enough that I'll risk skin cancer to
catch some rays. Not too many tho. Especially this time of the year
when the daylength is noticeably shortening, just being outside even
if the sun isn't totally shining is good.
