I've been thinking about you ever since I found this out..
I hope I can learn to deal with it as well as you do.
There's just so much to digest... I have to make

and I don't like doc visits, as a general rule.

HAHAHAHAHA! *thump* Are you kidding? I went through a year-long

began to settle down. And now I have to fight *myself* to keep my BGs

Well, okay, so hopefully I can at least find it in me to

I am pretty po'd. I guess I've just never really had a doc tell

Sorry to hear, I had diabetes test myself recently, but forgot to go back to

If they havent contacted you yet, it probably was negative. But give the Dr a
call to be sure. You really dont want to take chances with your health.

If you call the office, the nurse should be able to check the lab results in
your chart and tell you. If not, and you do need to see the Dr. consider it as
"you absolutely have to" Diabetes is managable and not too hard to live with.
But if it is NOT diagnosed and managed, it becomes even easier to die with.

I understand, but nurses/receptionists are not allowed to give you your
results....so it means visit the doctor, but I also know my doctor, if it
was positive, I would have got a "get in my office at the first available
appointment' phone call. She is pretty good like that.

It must be a state to state thing or maybe a Dr to Dr thing. My regular Dr does
not allow staff to give results, but my neurologist and my sons gastro will let
their nurses give me the info. Im in RI.
I still wish you'd go in and get the results, but you are an adult and have to
make your own choices.

Nope, there is absolutely no way you can get test results without visiting
the doctor and thats pretty standard from a lot of surgeries, they are not
allowed to give results over the phone or in the mail, due to privacy
legislation. And lets face it, thats another consultation fee for the docs.

Easy answer is, I hate doctors, I hate going to doctors, I had the tests
done. If it was positive the doctor will call me. She has not and I am happy
to accept that its negative on that basis. I resent paying money to doctors
to tell me that there is nothing wrong with me.
I know my doctor she knows me, she knows I will not come back for test
results, I never do. Next time I go to the doc, she will lecture me about
not coming back for results.....then next year she will send me a letter
asking me to come in for a diabetes test, this has been going on for a few
years.

ah.
However, your picture doesn't show you to be terribly overweight,
right? So perhaps you're going to avoid it that way?
I am a little overweight but not over the top, I figure that if anything is
gonna get me its gonna be heart or lungs. Damn cigarettes and lack of
exercise.
yup. same here.

The chances of that happening are.........?
Me, I'd rather make it more convenient for *me*.
And if necessary, put a password in my file and have me tell them what
my password is over the phone--providing that *I* call *them*.
It's absolutely ridiculous that she has to pay AGAIN for a 3 minute

Slim, I know, maybe even non-existant, but my recent cyberstalking has raised my
discomfort level, and even at my VITA [Voluntary Income Tax Assistance] course, the IRS
is really making confidentiality a priority for all tax preparers. I know that's been
coming out in my posts a lot, but it takes time to work through how I felt.

I've been really tired for a long time, but I was
attributing that to the Celexa that I'm taking..
then in the past two or three weeks I've been
DYING of thirst and my eyes were blurry, and
I was so tired I didn't even want to leave the
house.

You know, my mom's been diabetic since she was 17. It isn't so bad,
really. Just stay ontop of your blood sugar levels and don't be afraid
of the insulin shots. I'm really happy for you for surviving with such
an insanely high glucose level, you should actually be really really
proud. My mom said that lately she's been eating less carbs, and
that's helped alot. I don't know, read up on diabetes, there's so much
information everywhere. good luck,
~alex
