Until that happens, we're fresh out of army. Bush has us overextended and
overcommitted. If Korea decided to invade the US, now would be the time.

I think we're going to refocus away from active engagements and invest
in weaponry for the next few years to adapt to conditions and
challenges that have screwed us in Iraq...This article talks about a
new global strike weapon.

Yes, I have no doubt that the military will continue to spend countless
billions on new weapons systems, whether that buys us anything or not. As
Vietnam proved, you can't win every war with superior weapons. And as Iraq
has proved, winning a military war is not enough. There's no point in us
trying to bring freedom to another country if it's just going to fall in to
civil war.

i think North Korea is looking more at self protection

Good point. There's not much here anyone might want. Then again, a country
like China may want us for our food production capability.
North Korea just wants to join the nuclear big boys. I think they want it
for the same reason we did, deterrent.
