I had to walk through slush wearing socks and my sandals. Now the socks
are all wet and icky. How can you people stand wearing them?

I don't like slippers, and they're hard to find that big. Moccasins
would be perfect.

Hardware stores and farm stores sometimes have big rubber boots. The
last pair I got cost about $13.

You absolutely want socks with these, or you will sweat
inside and get a chill on your feet as bad as having them
wet without the boots.

when you wear them in shoes or boots, they stay all nice and
warm and dry. wet socks are miserable.

I hate wet socks, take them off immediately or your feet will itch
like crazy.

Maybe I'll have to try these things called "shoes". I just have to find

I can handle ugly. All 14W shoes are ugly, except basketball shoes, but
I don't like basketball shoes.

I've been buying this model of K Swiss shoe for several years now.
They're "classics", $65 is a little more than I like spending on a pair
of shoes but I've never gotten less than a year out of each pair.
http://www.kswiss.com/cgi-bin/kswiss/store/product_detail.html?mv_arg=x&pid=0001:100
Over the years I've developed a "must have" criteria for shoes. They
can't have a sole like running shoes where the sole tip wraps up around
the toe and inevitably starts peeling off. They can't have holes that go
*through* the shoe material (the K Swiss shoes use metal loops). I also
want shoes made of leather because it's the only thing that holds up to
the flexing...especially around the sides of the toe.
For the longest time it was hit or miss about finding them in my
sasquatch sized feet, but now that I can buy them online -- it's Wunderbar!

$65.00 USD isn't cheap but it isn't exhorbitant either.

Socks are not really compatible with sandles. In a cold climate,
maybe.
Unlike underwear and bed sheets they are a required item when
wearing boots or shoes - otherwise the skin gets rubbed off your
heel/feet. I've tried to think about how to eliminate them in the past,
however consider them a plausible item.
I still think the most scary thing is bed sheets. I used to spend how
much time and resources putting them on the bed/making the bed,
washing them, drying them, buying new ones?
Bed sheets have got to be the most stupid invention of all time.
Waterbed + sheepskin + doona (quilt) is all that is required.
I wore socks to bed the other night - dunno why - prolly too
lazy to take them off.

The rubber lowers and leather uppers, with the felt liner? I like duck
boots, same as above, without the liner. I bought mud boots at
"Tractor Supply Store", like a walmart for farmers (only have one
upstate) and I have my walmart 9 dollar rubber high boots. Gotta have
'em for the Spring.
if it would snow, I'd put on the Kamak canadian snow boots. A mouse
died in one, ao it took months to get the death smell out of the liner.
Nothing worse than surveying 8 hours, standing in one spot at the
instrument for 8 hours, in a foot of snow. But the Kamaks, or Sorels
with the felt liner, will keep a foot warm all day.
But I always wear harness boots, from Nashville Boot company, online.
I have 2 pair, brown. They have a 'walker/stride something" sole, and
I can stand them all day. Makes me abot 5' 8" tall in them. Whole
different world 1 inch higher. Oh, and size 9 1/2. You cats are
heeuge, main, as tiny Elvis would say.
