Object: spiders
i don't mind them outdoors, and not too much in the house if
they stay out of my way and hide. but there was just a fairly
big one one in the bed. couldn't brush it out, so i jumped up
and looked through the covers. couldn't find it. it must have
crawled somewhere under sleeping joe. now i really won't sleep
tonight!

Oh hell, I am with you there, spiders outside ok, I dont go where they are,
spiders inside sort of ok, if they stay high up where I can reach them. But
nope if it was on my bed, I would be out of there in a flash. Last week when
I was going to work there was one perched on my front door knob. I exited
the house from the garage door instead. Left my partner to get rid of it.

i was fine with them until i was dating joe. i'd stooped over
to get a better look at a spider, and joe said to look out, it
was going to jump. i laughed at him, then it did jump onto me
and down the front of my shirt. we never found it. i've been a
bit leery of them being too close since then.

I have always been a full on arachnaphobic. For as long as I can remember,
was a time when I could not even look at spiders in a picture. Least I am
not that scared anymore. But I have jumped out of a moving car into oncoming
traffic because a huntsman dropped from the roof into my lap. Lucky for me,
my partner was slowing down to do an right hand turn luckier still that I
didnt get hit by another car when I jumped out.

OMG I would never get in that bed again if that happened to me, and i
know it will someday, because i caught several huge spiders the size
of a man's hand pretty much everywhere else in the house, I think
they're called Wolf Spiders. Did you get to see what kind it was? We
have this spider spray here that we keep for such emergencies, it
doesn't kill them immediately, but once they get a whiff of the stuff,
they die eventually (like 15 minutes later?), but what i usually do is
the combination spray-and-stomp method, using an old gym shoe to crush
them. I'm sorry, i love animals, but these things are just too scary
to live in such close proximity to me and my family.
The other thing we do to prevent MORE spiders from entering our home
is to seal up any cracks in the ceilings, walls, anywhere they could
crawl through, and then spray some of that spider spray right on there
for extra protection.

this looked like a small wolf spider. black and hairy. ugh. i
don't mind them unless they come too close, and this one was
definitely too close. i'll be checking all the covers again
before i go to sleep.

When I think wolf spider, I thing lean, mean, (large) running
machine, able to do the spider equivalent of a zillion miles an hour, not
black and hairy. Don't like them much. But jumping spiders... Call me
crazy, but I love jumping spiders. They're so cute! I mean, take a
close look at them sometime. (But probably not to sleep with.) <sigh>

jumping spiders are cute, when they're not jumping on me and
getting lost in my clothing.
someone in joe's department is studying spiders. they're more
intelligent and have a more developed nervous system than most
people give them credit for. she has them watching tv images
of insects, getting them all excited, then startles them with
a loud sound. there's lots of weird science out there!
