Crap! My secret identity as a writer of sword & sorcery graphic novels has
finally seen the light of day! (At least on asd. It's been out on the WWW ever
since Al Gore invented the Internet.)
I was involved with Quadrant nearly 25 years ago. It was ... how shall I put
this? ... interesting times.
I will say here only that there is a very large gap between the public facts and
the private realities of this youthful creative endeavour. Details will be
forthcoming in my tell-all autobiography.

'Fraid not. I haven't been in touch with Peter for a very long time, and I am
merely nothing without his artistic contribution.

"If you like sword-and-sorcery and naked women there's a chance you'll
enjoy this half-arsed, sub-John Norman tale of warrior women, elven
thieves, dire gods and dim (or undead) swordsmen. What separates
Quadrant from most other strips in the genre is the scattershot
attempt to make it sexy, with everything from open-crotch shots to
bondage and lesbian encounters. Its utter triviality is demonstrated
by the concept of hordes of women going into battle wearing nothing
but high heels."

You're very busy reassessing your image of me, eh?
Happens that I merely "wrote" the stories. Peter illustrated them according to
his own creative impulses. I didn't have any control over how he drew the
characters. (A friend of ours once said that Peter's women "existed in a realm
of negative gravity". Hmmmm. I wonder what he meant by that?)
II remember doing the autograph thing at a comic book convention. A young woman
came up and attempted to berate me about my heroine, seeing as the description
you quoted above was somewhat accurate.
I pointed out that in "my" story the character was a strong, self-sufficient,
capable woman, who was smarter than a lot of the guys (that dim swordsman was
ultra-dim, trust me), who could fight and kill with the best of them, and who
had a goal and a plan to achieve it.
She actually bought my explanation.

just brought it up privately to her. I was just goofing around with

Nick, I'm not ashamed of it. I'm not embarrassed by it.
If anything at all, I'm highly amused by it.
There's a little more to the story than appears on the surface, that's why I'm
having so much fun with it coming out now.

What was your contribution, by the way? I mean your role in the creation
